Presence

When you don’t see the path forward, but you take a quiet moment outside, and you see the start of a sunrise beyond the trees. Everything in life stops, and it’s just you and the silence, the cold breeze on your face. You watch the trees move as if you can feel them in your body.

That peace, calm and safety consumes your body. And for a minute everything’s ok. I think the hardest thing is when you take 2 steps forward, you’re pushed 4 steps back. For a while the path was clear and each step was easy and effortless. What do you do when you don’t see the path forward.

When your body isn’t in a state of ease and momentum. So I slow down and try to be more present, more present in moments that do give me peace. Stillness allows thoughts and energy to shift. I touch Mother Earth and ask her for support, to ground me. And I ask for guidance an understanding. I do more things that do bring me joy. In hopes my path forward lights up for me again.

Even though I can’t see it. I choose to believe it’s still there. And maybe all along that’s what it came down to. I get to choose my steps forward. So I take it slow, one step at a time and really listen to what I need. I follow the joy and the peace now for a while…
